Dr. Joel W. Goodman

Dr. Goodman is a well known amateur astronomer, supporter of amateur astronomy, and public speaker from the Bay Area.
Dr. Goodman obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Columbia University in 1959 and was a National Science Foundation Post Doctorate Fellow from 1959 to 1960.
He has been a long time member of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (ALPO) and was that organizations Saturn Section Recorder from 1961 to 1966.
Dr. Goodman has had an interest in astronomy from a young age and has also been involved with many amateur astronomy groups throughout the years including; New York Amateur Astronomers, British Astronomical Society, San Francisco Amateur Astronomers, Marin Astronomical Society, Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society, Project ASTRO, and is a docent of the Mt. Diablo Observatory Association.
As part of his professional life, as a microbiologist, he was a member of the NASA – Mars Sample Return Panel in 1974.
